May 23rd Running again
It is extraordinary and a source of not a little pride
That I still run.
It is nearly 11 years now
When rushing back from a rehearsal
Became a life changer
And it is such fun.
But as I get old
It’s a precariously bold and bolder
Assumption to think that it will last
Much beyond 70.
Now a bout of tonsillitis
That has led to bronchitis
Has floored me.
I haven’t run for a week.
Each time I get a pull;
Or pains and aches;
I have to stop
Running.
It’s only
Me being careful.
But I will persevere
And jog and walk
Until I’m here
Running again.
And Park Run and 5k
Eventually I’ll be back ok.
But it takes me longer and longer to recover
When inevitably along comes another…
