April 19th Science
I should have had a career in science,
But there was I…
Shuffling bits of paper, counting money, and smiling.
Science is fascinating.
Selling is not.
Standing behind a counter
In a bank, in a shop.
I could have done better,
But I did not.
I wouldn’t have been at
The forefront of technology advances;
Nuclear fusion power, what were the chances?
I would not have discovered the meaning of time
The complexities of loop quantum gravity, fine…
I would not have influenced any control
Over greenhouse gasses and our reliance on coal.
Or I wouldn’t have worked at CERN.
Probably wouldn’t have worked in space technology either
Satellites, hypersonic slingshots?
No; not a lots.
But.
I might have worked in a lab.
That would’ve been fab.
Or at a university facility
That would have done brilliantly.
Or on some cutting-edge stuff,
That would’ve been enough.
So; what went wrong?
Nothing really, I just went along
With what happened; no regrets…
I ended up taking bets.
Strange how things work out isn’t it?
