April 20th What a wonderful bird a frog are
What a funny chicken a seagull is
Even if he clucks, he can’t fly
Even when he can fly, he squawks and squawks up high.
He would peck you given the chance,
Would pinch your lunch given half a chance.
But eggs, boiled, fried or scrambled for tea
What a funny roast a seagull would be.
-----
What a funny pig a hedgehog be
Snuffling about in the hedgerow he.
Truth is:
He isn’t any sort of porky swine
And not related to prickly porcupine.
In fact, they’re more like
Shrews or moles,
Digging about as they do in undergrowth holes.
-----
What a funny frog a toad would be
Amphibian cousins they are differently.
Both start as eggs
And tadpoles, but then…
Frogs have long legs, they’re slimy and are hopper
forwards
Toads are dry and are warty shuffler crawlers.
But newts are neither…
They are just… newts.
