April 25th Mrs Basra: Aisling

April 25th   Mrs Basra; Aisling

I know you, who you are and where you live.

And you; we used to say hello and chat

About little and nothing.

He lives at 25 and has a Scottie dog called Jake.

She secretly treats herself sometimes to cake.

As a treat on the walk back home.

Peter buys the Telegraph most days.

I know you all, all of your ways.

The gossip comes to me.

I pass it on. Nicely.

I’ve been here where you see me

For 27 years and more…

I knew Charlotte over there, when she was ‘so high’

He’s a new Dad.

She lost her Mum... so sad.

They’ve just moved in.

And he’s about to move on.

The come to tell me their news.

I am pleased.

In the centre of our little corner of town.

They all know me.

Or did.

Because suddenly I am gone.

I said goodbye to some.

Not everyone.

Quietly done.

And they often ask after me still.

The same old faces every day

Even though

I am gone.

Life carrys on.
