Sappho
Sappho lost in a sea
Of cow parsley.
Holding her hand for all to see,
Reaching out.
Her poetry is all forgotten.
Her fame in Greek days of old
Is not.
And today she still remains
An emblem of feminine campaigns.
WHAT by another name
WHAT is no more.
But 7 carry on under a different banner
Still very much in a similar manner,
As friends.
Who sing.
And meet up to rehearse
Sharing song and verse.
And tea and cakes
Wine and whinge.
About age and frailty
About the past and of today.
And, hey, long may it last that way.
